But now, with time, perspective, and new resources, we can begin to think about how we can help them recover.įood insecurity has had more public attention in the past two years than any other time in the last decade. There are still far too many people in Connecticut struggling with food insecurity, and during the height of the pandemic, we did our best to urgently meet the needs of our neighbors. But now nearly two years into the pandemic, we feel that Connecticut Foodshare - in partnership with our network, elected officials, and tireless supporters - can begin to think about recovery. At times circumstances were so urgent that our response needed to be just that: urgent. And as we approached each situation with care, we also knew that expediency was critical to meeting the need. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we have faced challenges we could not have imagined. This is only the beginning of our next chapter. On behalf of myself and the Connecticut Foodshare Board of Directors, I am proud to share the impact of our work with you, and I am so grateful for your continued support to make everything possible. We faced insurmountable odds- but together we have accomplished so much, and I look forward to seeing where these partnerships will lead us. None of this would have been possible without partnership - among our merged staff and volunteers, our incredible network, with other non-profits, elected officials, and with our dedicated supporters.

We hosted vaccine clinics and voter registration drives at our mobile food pantries and emergency drive-thru distributions, and provided nearly 47 million meals of food. When I think back on the last year, the consistent theme of partnership sits at the forefront of my mind. We are now Connecticut Foodshare, serving a statewide network of 700 partner programs, over 3,700 volunteers and more than 100 staff working to meet the needs of our neighbors in Connecticut struggling with food insecurity - and continuing to find new ways to address root causes of hunger and long-term solutions.
